Berlin Science Week 2022: Circular economy, AI and lunar dust - BAM offers insights into sustainable materials research

Oliver Perzborn Referat Kommunikation, Marketing
Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM)

Berlin, 27.10.2022. How can we build cities more sustainably in the future and use the remains of old buildings in a CO2-saving way for the circular economy? How can artificial intelligence be used to develop climate-friendly materials faster and more efficiently? What do plant fibres have to do with sustainable flame protection? And how can roads for future moon bases be built from moon dust using 3D printing?

Researchers from the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) will answer these and many other questions during this year's Berlin Science Week, which will take place from 1 to 10 November in Berlin.

Those interested can experience research on climate change on 8 November at Popkudamm in Berlin's City West from 10 am to 7 pm. At the BAM stand, researchers will show how coconut fibres, acacia sap and cassava peels can be used to produce sustainable and efficient building materials.

On 10 November, BAM also invites you to a workshop on Fire Science. The focus will be on the effects of climate change on fire fighting and prevention. International experts will present their research on new safer materials, e.g. for lightweight construction and sustainable flame retardants.

These and all other BAM contributions to the Berlin Science Week 2022 as well as information on registration can be found at https://www.bam.de/berlin-science-week.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
