“Women in Leadership”: global event of top business schools to promote women in leadership positions

Jennifer Reo Corporate Communications
European School of Management and Technology (ESMT)

The four European business schools Cranfield School of Management (United Kingdom), ESMT Berlin (Germany), Imperial College Business School (United Kingdom), and Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands) have again joined forces to host the second virtual “Women in Leadership” event on February 16, 2023.

Following last year’s successful launch under the motto “Empower your success,” this year’s event will hold presentations and discussions on the topic of “Achieving your next steps,” focusing on the most important questions regarding career progression: How do you find the right role models for your career? What steps do you need to take to advance your own career? How can your own network help you get support?

    This year’s speakers include:
    - Dr. Deirdre Anderson, Director of the Gender, Leadership, and Inclusion Centre, Cranfield University
    - Hetty Brand-Boswijk, Director of Coaching, Rotterdam School of Management
    - Prof. Gianluca Carnabuci, Professor of Organizational Behavior, Director of Research, and the Ingrid and Manfred Gentz Chair in Business and Society, ESMT Berlin
    - Dorothy Grandia, Associate Director of Programming at Erasmus Center for Women & Organizations, Rotterdam School of Management
    - Lisa Umenyiora, Executive Director of Careers and Student Life, Imperial College Business
    - Prof. Sue Vinnicombe CBE, global leader and advocate for change in women’s rights, Cranfield School of Management

The speakers provide insights into how networks can be used as a valuable tool for one’s own career and why different tactics work better for women than for men. The second major topic will cover how to balance the tightrope between being respected and being liked, including how to achieve the best results personally and for the organization. The third session will provide participants with practical steps to bring their careers to the next level. The final keynote will focus on the importance of having the right role models.

The event will take place online on February 16, 2023, from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. CET.
