Cyber-resilient society as a main focus of Cyberagentur

Michael Lindner Presse
Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit GmbH

    Call for Posters for network event { Cyber : Crime || Security || Society }

    From 12 to 13 September 2023, the Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit GmbH (Cyberagentur) will host the first network event { Cyber : Crime || Security || Society } in Halle (Saale). The event will bring together national and international researchers as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies in the field of "cyber-resilient society". The community is invited to present their latest research via a poster competition.

    The network event { Cyber : Crime || Security || Society } (Cyber-CSS) will be hosted by the Cyberagentur for the first time and will be held back-to-back with the preceding "Annual Human Factor in Cybercrime Conference" (HFC). With a joint “handshake” on the afternoon of 12 September, both events will be connected in order to connect a wide range of actors in the field of "cyber-resilient society". The preceding international conference HFC will take place for the first time in Germany - also in Halle (Saale) -, from 10 to 12 September 2023 (https://www.cyberagentur.de/cyberagentur-richtet-internationale-kriminologen-kon...).

    In addition to networking, Cyberagentur would like to fundamentally draw attention to issues surrounding a "cyber-resilient society". "In the context of cybercrime and cybersecurity, it is not only the technological side that counts, but also the human factor on the side of perpetrators and victims side," explains Dr. Nicole Selzer, Research Officer Secure Society and lead in the organisation team of the HFC and network event. "Therefore, the strategy of Cyberagentur with its 15 flagship topics also includes the topic area 'Cyber-Resilient Society', which deals with criminological, legal and ethical issues in the field of cyber security."

    Call for Posters

    By organising the (HFC) and the network event as well as connecting national and international researchers, the Cyberagentur wants to give more visibility to the topic of cybercriminology in Germany.

    "At the same time, we want to give special support to young researchers," Dr Selzer elaborates on the "Call for Posters", which will be launched at the beginning of April, "by awarding the best poster."

    The call for papers is aimed at researchers from a broad spectrum of academic disciplines: criminology and criminalistics and their related sciences, sociology, psychology, anthropology, law and economics, computer science, peace and conflict studies and political science. Essential requirement is a direct reference to cybercrime or cybersecurity. Research approaches can focus on future challenges, empirical, methodological or theoretical work as well as futurology with corresponding analyses, policy recommendations or identification of future research topics. Posters can be submitted to Cyberagentur by e-mail (cyber-css@cyberagentur.de) until 31 July 2023.

    Due to the international orientation of the network event, it will be held exclusively in English. The landing page provides information and registration regarding both the poster competition and the event. Interested parties can reach the HFC via its own website: https://www.hfc-conference.com/.

    Background: Cyberagentur
    The Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit GmbH (Cyberagentur) was founded in 2020 as a fully in-house company of the Federal Government under the joint leadership of the Federal Ministry of Defence and the Federal Ministry of the Interior and for Home Affairs by the Federal Government with the goal of taking an application-strategy-related and interdepartmental view of internal and external security in the field of cybersecurity. Against this backdrop, the work of the Cyberagentur is primarily aimed at the institutionalised implementation of highly innovative projects that are associated with a high risk with regard to the achievement of objectives, but at the same time can have a very high disruptive potential if they are successful.
    The Cyberagentur is headed by Prof. Dr. Christian Hummert as Research Director and Managing Director and Daniel Mayer as Commercial Director.
