Constructor University's physics students have once again demonstrated their mastery of the subject, taking second place in the recent physics competition, DOPPLERS-DPG. The team of two students, one alumnus, and an external student from Paris will be representing Germany at the international physics competition, PLANCKS, in Milan from May 12th - 16th, 2023.

DOPPLERS-DPG, which attracted around 100 participants from all over Germany, is known as the German Olympics in Physics problem solving for bachelor, master and PhD students. This year it was held on March 31st, 2023. The Constructor University team consisting of two students Dmytro Kolisnyk (BSc 2023), Sebastian Nicolas (BSc 2023), and alumnus Marco David (BSc 2020), along with Quentin Lamouret (École normale supérieure, Paris), competed against teams from other universities in a series of challenging physics problems, and won second place.

This is not the first time that Constructor University has excelled in physics competitions. Dmytro Kolisnyk (BSc 2023), one of the members of the DOPPLERS team, previously won a silver medal at the University Physics Competition in 2021, along with his teammates who won the gold medal for the University in 2020. The University, previously under the name of “Jacobs University”, has won two gold (2014 and 2020), five silver, and two bronze medals in the University Physics Competition for nine years in a row. In 2014, along with other years, ahead of National University of Singapore, Yale, Harvard, and others.

The Constructor University team will be joined by the winning team from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) and the third-ranked team from TU Munich/TU Berlin at PLANCKS. The competition will bring together some of the brightest students from universities around the world to compete in a variety of challenging physics problems.

"We are incredibly proud of our students for their exceptional performance at DOPPLERS," said Dr. Peter Schupp, Professor of Physics at Constructor University, "their hard work and dedication have paid off, and we are confident that they will continue to excel at the international level. We wish them the best of luck at PLANCKS."

The success of Constructor University's physics team is a testament to the university's commitment to academic excellence and student success. The university's physics program is known for its rigorous curriculum and world-class faculty, and its graduates are highly sought after by employers in a variety of fields.

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
