Prof. Dr. Corinna Kleinert, deputy director of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) and head of the department "Educational Decisions and Processes, Migration, Returns to Education," was appointed to the Council for Social and Economic Data (RatSWD) on July 1. The appointment by the German government was preceded by an election by 2,661 scientists in which Kleinert was nominated as a joint candidate of the German Sociological Association and the Academy of Sociology.
The RatSWD has been advising the German federal government and the governments of the German states on issues related to the research data infrastructure for the empirical social, behavioral, and economic sciences since 2004 and has been part of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) since 2020. For the 8th appointment period beginning in July, 10 scientists were newly elected at the beginning of the year as representatives of the relevant disciplines, who will work together in the future with 10 representatives of the most important data producers in the RatSWD.
"I am honored to represent the division of Sociology together with Prof. Dr. Hubert Knoblauch on the RatSWD for the next three years. As a multidisciplinary body jointly representing the social, behavioral, political, and economic sciences, we can achieve a great deal to strengthen the data infrastructure in Germany and thus equip the research location for the future and make it internationally compatible. I am looking forward to working with our renowned colleagues," says Corinna Kleinert. The sociologist was nominated for election in a joint appointment by the German Sociological Association and the Academy of Sociology. In addition to Corinna Kleinert, the following scholars were appointed to the RatSWD, which traditionally has a gender equal structure:
