Constructor University graduate Sia Shende joined more than 40 Nobel Laureates and more than 600 young scientists from around the world at the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting at the end of June. The conference offered a chance to exchange on topics ranging from medicine to physiology. Sia, 20-years-old, was the youngest participant. She is a recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and cell biology.
"It was an extraordinary experience that inspired me and strengthened my belief in the power of science," said Sia, "I also very much enjoyed the talks about diversity in science," she added. The conference in Lindau also gave Sia the chance to meet award winners face-to-face. "I have come to know them as normal people who have dedicated their lives to a purpose for which they work extremely hard. They have further strengthened my enthusiasm for research," she said.
Each year, Constructor University nominates outstanding students to attend the Nobel Laureate meeting. Those nominated are evaluated again by a team in Lindau before receiving an invitation. "I received an excellent education at Constructor University in Bremen, especially through the laboratory experience which we gain very early in our studies," said Sia, who sees her future in research.
