Uni Bayreuth now offers an "Artificial Intelligence" certificate of completion

Jennifer Opel Pressestelle
Universität Bayreuth

Starting in the winter semester of 2023/24, students at the University of Bayreuth will be able to take various courses on the topic of "Artificial Intelligence" in addition to their studies and thus acquire a certificate.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of many industries and is revolutionising the way technology is perceived and how people interact with technology. As AI continues to evolve, the need for skilled professionals to design and implement AI systems in various fields is increasing. "The development and implementation of AI-based systems in various applications are becoming increasingly important," says Prof. Dr. Dominik Henrich, Chair of Applied Computer Science III at the University of Bayreuth. "Considering the importance of AI, the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Bayreuth offers the certificate programme 'Artificial Intelligence' to provide students with a formal qualification in this dynamic field." The certificate is designed for students of Applied Computer Science (B.Sc.), Computer Science (B.Sc.), Computer Science (M.Sc.), Applied Computer Science (M.Sc.) and Computer Science (M.Sc.).

The programme comprises a number of courses that deal with the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, including Expert Systems, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning and applications such as Robotics, Computer Vision, Visualisation and Interfaces. These courses provide students with a broad understanding of AI algorithms, techniques and applications.
Practical experience is integrated through internships, projects and seminars that allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-life scenarios.

Students must earn 90 ECTS for the certificate. Since the courses that are eligible for the certificate are also part of the regular study programme, students can seamlessly integrate the certificate into their studies by completing the required courses. The Institute of Computer Science also offers the additional certificates "Data Science" and "Robotics and Automation".
