Kai Sassenberg is the new director of the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID)

    Renowned Social Psychologist is relocating to Trier from Tübingen.

    Trier. In October 2023, Prof. Dr. Kai Sassenberg will take over the reins as Director of the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID). He will succeed Prof. Dr. Claudia Dalbert in this position. Kai Sassenberg was leaving his position at the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM), where he has headed the research group "Social Processes" since 2007. Moreover, he held an appointment as professor of psychology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. At Trier University, the social psychologist holds a chair of Psychology.

    "I am looking forward to my new responsibilities and the challenges they will bring here at ZPID," says Kai Sassenberg. "My focus will be on expanding research and sustainably shaping infrastructure offerings together with the staff and partners of the ZPID."

    Claudia Dalbert, who led the institute from January 2022 to September 2023, looks back on her tenure with satisfaction: "I am pleased that I can hand over to Kai Sassenberg an institute that is well positioned in terms of personnel and structure. For this, my thanks go to the entire team of ZPID.“

    "With Kai Sassenberg, the University of Trier gains an excellent scientist. He conducts research on relevant topics such as social influence in the processing of true and false information. At the same time, he is our connection to ZPID, with which the Department of Psychology cooperates closely on many projects", remarks Prof. Dr. Eva Martha Eckkrammer, president oft the Trier University.

    The ZPID staff extends a warm welcome to Prof. Dr. Kai Sassenberg and is looking forward to working with him. It sends a heartfelt thank you to Claudia Dalbert and wishes her a well-deserved retirement.
