The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has appointed Dr. Laura Spitler, head of the Lise Meitner Group at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy, as a science scout as part of the Henriette Herz Scouting Program. In her new role, Dr. Spitler can recruit up to three international talents from abroad for a research stay at the MPIfR. Both, young talents and experienced scientists who have not yet completed a research stay in Germany, will be considered.
Since 2019, Dr. Spitler has been in charge of the Lise Meitner Research Group "Fast Radio Bursts as Astrophysical Tools" at the MPIfR. Her group deals with two main questions: what are repetitive fast radio bursts? How can fast radio bursts best be used as astronomical tools? Her research approach is based on observations with world-class radio telescopes and statistical analysis. She has an extensive international network and is familiar with the leading FRBs projects in various countries.
Her appointment as Science Scout now gives her the opportunity to select up to three international talents from abroad for a Humboldt Fellowship and to strengthen her team at the MPIfR with excellent researchers. "The Henriette Herz Scouting Program is ideal because it gives me the flexibility to offer promising researchers a concrete perspective at short notice and without bureaucracy," explains Laura Spitler. The selection of qualified researchers will be based on scientific presentations, personal interviews and an interview process in which both the candidates and Dr. Spitler will have the opportunity to determine whether their research goals match. The first proposal will be for a female scientist.
For the Henriette Herz Scouting Program, around 40 outstanding scientists are appointed as scouts each year in a competitive selection process. They will have the opportunity to approach highly qualified experts from their international network over a period of three years and propose them to the foundation for funding. The program is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
