For merits and outstanding achievements in process engineering, in particular the establishment of innovative separation processes

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern, Director Emeritus of the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, was awarded the Gruson Plaque of Honor by the Association of German Engineers (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure VDI) on October 18, 2024.

With this award, the VDI Magdeburg District Association honors the merits and outstanding achievements of Prof. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern in process engineering, in particular the establishment of innovative separation processes, his commitment to national and international cooperation and the enthusiasm he has conveyed to numerous students for studying process engineering.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern has headed the Department of Physical-Chemical Fundamentals of Process Engineering at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg from 1998 until his retirement in August 2024 and made a significant contribution to the establishment and success of the Max Planck Institute, which was newly founded in the state capital Magdeburg in 1998. His main research focus is on new reactor concepts, heterogeneous catalysis, adsorption and chromatography and crystallization processes, novel processes for the efficient separation of mixtures of very similar molecules and sustainable and affordable processes to provide drugs which are based on natural products.

Since 1995, the VDI's Gruson Plaque of Honor has been awarded by the Magdeburg District Association to individuals from the Magdeburg area who have made outstanding contributions to technology, engineering and/or the work of the Magdeburg District Association. The German engineer, inventor, industrial entrepreneur and company founder Hermann Gruson lived and worked in Magdeburg from 1821 to 1895.

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
