After a temporary move to the summer, the Hochschultag (English: University Days) at the University of the Arts (HfK) Bremen are returning to their original winter schedule in 2025. On February 15th and 16th, 2025, the HfK will open its doors at Speicher XI and Speicher XI A in Bremen's Überseestadt district. Visitors can look forward to a vibrant weekend filled with art, design, media, and music. As always, admission is free.

Point of View – Perspectives in Focus

The theme of the Hochschultage 2025, Point of View, highlights both individual and social perspectives. Visitors are invited to explore the artistic decisions behind the works and contribute their own viewpoints to the dialogue. This theme fosters meaningful encounters and exchanges, weaving together diverse perspectives and opening up new horizons. Topics range from political and philosophical questions to aesthetic and technological explorations, showcasing the HfK as a dynamic hub where disciplines converge and innovative ideas take shape.

Explore Current Topics and Creative Processes

The Hochschultage celebrate the intersection of art, music, design, science, and social dialogue. HfK students respond to pressing contemporary issues through artistic concepts, interventions, and design projects. Their works and performances tackle themes such as sustainability, identity, digital transformation, mobility, and solidarity.

With an annual attendance of 3,000 to 6,000 visitors, the Hochschultage offer a multifaceted programme of exhibitions, concerts, performances, installations, films, and lectures. These diverse formats provide an immersive experience of the creative diversity and processes at the HfK Bremen. Open studios, workshops, and creative spaces invite visitors to explore student work environments and engage directly with emerging artists, designers, and musicians.

A highlight of the Hochschultage is the presentation of newly awarded works by HfK prize winners. These pieces exemplify exceptional artistic quality and innovative thinking, resonating far beyond the university itself.

About the University of the Arts Bremen

Around 1,000 students from over 50 countries, 64 professors, 85 administrative staff and around 150 lecturers make Bremen University of the Arts a lively place.
The HfK is a university of apparent contrasts. It is regionally anchored and yet extremely internationally orientated. It extends across various locations in the city, which are very different, from classicist to floating and contemporary. It is both an art and music university. This context, which characterises the university, is of particular quality and forms a framework that makes it possible to strengthen both collective and individual artistic development.

The study programme includes Fine Arts, Integrated Design, Digital Media as well as Artistic and Artistic-Pedagogical Education in Music. Since 2020, the HfK has also offered the opportunity to complete a doctorate as part of the artistic-scientific PhD programme, particularly in the focus areas of Integrated Design and Digital Media. Open courses and joint examination supervision as well as workshops, studios and thematic projects specifically promote dialogue and collaboration. With around 400 events a year, the HfK is one of the cultural and social pillars of the city of Bremen.

The relationship between the members of the university community, their diverse collaborations, the close-knit supervision and the various regional and international collaborations help the students to develop strong individual characters. This ultimately results in works that are highly relevant to society.
