Excellent online and blended learning study programmes at numerous locations in Germany: the FIBAA Accreditation and Certification Commission awards the FIBAA quality seal “Excellence in Digital Education”® in the premium category to the FOM - Hochschule für Oekonomie und Management (University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management).
The FIBAA quality audit covers the areas of strategy, personnel, technology, didactic design and quality assurance with a total of 23 quality criteria. The assessment of the FOM by a panel of experts appointed by FIBAA began in spring 2024. Among other things, the FOM convinced the experts in those criteria that deal with the strategic objectives, the further qualification and support of teachers with regard to digital teaching methods, a convincing technical infrastructure, the specific implementation of the digital learning and teaching experience and the continuous improvement of digital teaching. Overall, the FOM exceeds the requirements of FIBAA in 21 quality criteria, so that FIBAA awards the FOM the FIBAA quality seal “Excellence in Digital Education”® in the premium category.
The topics of digital teaching and transformation have become indispensable for universities and educational institutions. With its “Excellence in Digital Education”® quality seal, FIBAA promotes innovation in the education sector and supports universities and institutions of education and training in seeing digital challenges as an opportunity for future teaching and learning scenarios. The certification process itself already enables universities and educational institutions to assess and further develop the quality of their programmes with regard to digital teaching and the implementation of digital teaching at institutional level. Accordingly, universities and educational institutions not only receive a status quo description with the final report, but also suggestions and recommendations for strategic, technical, didactic and personnel development. Certification with the “Excellence in Digital Education”® quality seal is valid for five years.
With over 45,000 students, more than 100,000 graduates, over 1,500 lecturers, 34 study centres in Germany and more than 20 research institutions, the FOM with its main location in Essen is one of the largest attendance universities in Germany.
FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) is a European quality assurance agency for higher education and continuing education programmes. Founded in 1994, FIBAA is registered as an accreditation agency in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Vietnam and Ukraine. FIBAA is also a member of the European quality network ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) and registered with EQAR (European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education). Further memberships with CEENQA (Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance), INQAAHE (International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education) and AQAN (ASEAN Quality Assurance Network) round off the international profile. With the "Excellence in Digital Education"® certification, FIBAA has created a nationally and internationally applicable instrument for quality assurance in digital teaching. It defines quality standards for digital teaching and learning and makes them comparable nationally and internationally.
