29 students at MHH will receive a Germany Scholarship in the academic year 2024/25.
They not only achieve outstanding academic results, but are also committed to society in a special way: a total of 29 students at MHH have now received their certificates for the Deutschlandstipendium (German Scholarship) for the 2024/25 academic year. The scholarship holders met with their sponsors and the programme managers at the university to celebrate the Deutschlandstipendium. The Deutschlandstipendium provides students with financial support of €300 per month for a year, half of which is funded by a sponsor and half by the federal government. This is intended to enable them to continue to get involved in social causes and take responsibility for others alongside their studies. Special personal circumstances are also taken into account.
17 sponsors supported
In her speech, scholarship holder Dr. Julia Spanier described how much the financial support helps in everyday student life: ‘The programme shows that it doesn't always have to be a full scholarship. For me personally, the 300 euros a month mean above all more flexibility in terms of childcare, because balancing studies and two small children is not always easy. So I am very grateful for the support.’
A total of 17 sponsors supported the Deutschlandstipendium this year, including eight professors from MHH, alumni and a former patient. In addition to MHH plus foundation, which again financed ten scholarships, the Alumni e.V., the Society of Friends of MHH, the Marburger Bund Niedersachsen and the apoBank Foundation each took on one scholarship. In his speech, Professor Dr Rainer Blasczyk explained why he has been committed to the Deutschlandstipendium for many years. ‘During my studies, I was chronically broke,’ said the transfusion medicine specialist. ‘And I remember well how much of a hindrance that was to my studies. For that reason alone, I consider this form of support for young talent to be important.’ When the students received their scholarship certificates and briefly introduced themselves, the range of the scholarship programme also became clear. Not only students of human medicine benefit from the programme; dentistry and smaller courses of study such as public health and biomedical data science were also represented.
