The German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM e.V.) is organizing its new conference format "GBM Compact" in Frankfurt/Main for the third time in September 2025. This year the focus of the meeting will be "Condensate Biology" and addresses the role of membraneless cellular compartments in cellular biochemical processes.
The existence of membrane-less organelles, such as nucleoli, stress granules or Cajal bodies has been known for a long time, however, it has remained largely unclear how such organelles are formed, maintained and regulated. This meeting will bring together scientists from different disciplines to discuss how novel functions and pathologies emerge from the process of phase separation in biological systems, and what molecular underpinnings facilitate and regulate this key process.
The meeting will start on Thursday, September 18 with the Fritz Lipmann Keynote Lecture by Michael Rosen (Department of Biophysics at UT Southwestern Medical Center and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute). The conference speakers will present impressive possibilities on how to study and manipulate biomolecular condensates and subcellular architecture, for example using modern imaging and biophysical techniques. In addition to excellent invited speakers, there will also be five slots for short talks selected from the submitted abstracts.
The poster exhibition and a get-together for all participants on the evening of the first conference day will round off the program. The best two posters will receive a poster prize (300 € each) at the end of the conference.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
