The Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM proudly marks its 20th anniversary as a member of IVAM – the "International Microtechnology Network". Since joining IVAM in 2005, Fraunhofer IZM has played a pivotal role in advancing micro- and nanotechnology through close collaboration with IVAM’s international ecosystem of innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers.
Shortly after joining IVAM, Fraunhofer IZM was instrumental in establishing the focus group on "Wearables and Smart Textiles," bringing together industry and research experts in one of the earliest collective efforts to address the convergence of textiles and electronics. This pioneering work later contributed to the evolution and merging of activities into the broader "Hybrid Electronic Systems" focus group. Today, in 2025, Fraunhofer IZM continues this legacy of forward-thinking collaboration by partnering with the Detect Network to help launch a new focus group dedicated to "Sensors" – a field with growing importance across sectors from healthcare to environmental monitoring.
As a dedicated and active member of IVAM, Fraunhofer IZM has been a regular contributor to the network’s flagship events, including frequent speaking engagements at the IVAM High-Tech Summit and at the COMPAMED Forum, held during the world’s largest trade show for medical devices. These platforms have provided opportunities to share cutting-edge research and strengthen ties with both industrial and academic partners.
Fraunhofer IZM also maintains a strong track record of participation in joint project proposals alongside IVAM members from across Europe. This spirit of collaboration has supported groundbreaking innovations and fostered strong ties between science and industry.
"Our two decades of membership in IVAM represent not only a shared history, but a shared vision for innovation in microtechnology. We are proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to shaping the next 20 years," says Erik Jung, Senior Business Developer at Fraunhofer IZM.
This milestone underlines Fraunhofer IZM’s continued commitment to engaging with the broader tech community, contributing scientific excellence, and advancing application-ready solutions in microelectronics, sensors, and system integration.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
