The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald is now accepting applications for up to six Alfried Krupp Senior Fellowships and up to eight Alfried Krupp Junior Fellowships for the academic year 2026/27. This prestigious fellowship program offers exceptional researchers and highly qualified early-career scholars the opportunity to focus on their significant scientific projects in an inspiring and supportive environment.
The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald is an independent interdisciplinary research institution located in the heart of the historic university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald, near the Baltic Sea. Founded in 2002 by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach Foundation, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and the University of Greifswald, the Kolleg aims to strengthen the excellence of the university and promote international scientific exchange.
Founded in 2007, the Alfried Krupp Fellows Program enables fellows to concentrate on their research projects without the burden of teaching obligations or administrative duties. The fellowships provide financial support and offer free accommodation and office space at the Kolleg. Senior Fellowships are open to distinguished scholars with a proven track record in research and teaching, while Junior Fellowships are aimed at highly qualified, post-doctoral researchers.
For the academic year 2026/27, a special interdisciplinary focus will be placed on the exploration of the Baltic Sea region, from culture to ecology. Researchers from all disciplines working on these topics are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications from other research fields that contribute to strengthening the academic profile of the University of Greifswald are also welcome.
The application period runs from June 1 to August 31, 2025. Applications can only be submitted electronically via the online application form. To ensure fairness and impartiality, the application process will be anonymized during the first round of review.
Further information and the application form are available on the website of the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg. For any inquiries, please contact the Scientific Director of the Kolleg, Prof. Dr. Thomas Klinger, or the Fellowship Program Officer, Celia Baron M.Sc.
