New research report: AI applications in the banking sector worldwide

Eva Lenz Stabsabteilung Kommunikation und Marketing
Hochschule für Finanzwirtschaft & Management

The full research report of the Hochschule für Finanzwirtschaft & Management offers sound insights, potential fields of action, and strategic recommendations for the responsible use of AI in the financial sector.

How are banks productively using artificial intelligence (AI) today – and where is the development heading? Prof. Dr. Dirk Neuhaus and Salim Willems explore this question in the latest research report from the Hochschule für Finanzwirtschaft & Management (HFM).

The analysis shows that the pioneers are primarily countries with a high level of digitalisation and innovative strength, including the USA and Western European nations. Banks are currently deploying AI mainly to automate processes, reduce costs, and deliver more efficient customer service – for example, through assistance systems, chatbots, or recommendation technologies.

‘AI has long been part of everyday operations in banks. With over 350 use cases analysed, our research report shows where banks stand today and what will matter tomorrow. We provide fact-based guidance for decision-makers, innovators and designers in the banking sector.’ ,” summarises Prof. Dr. Dirk Neuhaus.
