From 12 to 15 September 2025, the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT will be showcasing its media intelligence solution InsightPersona at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. InsightPersona combines face and speaker recognition with speech transcription to rapidly and reliably analyze vast audiovisual archives. Users gain a quick, comprehensive overview of who appeared when, where and on which topics — without the need for manual, time-consuming research.
+++Precise Media Analyses in Seconds+++
Tailored for editorial teams, journalists, media producers, and communications or political agencies, InsightPersona enables rapid queries that locate relevant audio clips, quotes and video sequences in seconds — eliminating the need for hours of manual review or limiting searches to just a few sources.
“The visual analysis in InsightPersona accurately recognizes individuals. In conjunction with speaker recognition, audiovisual content can thus be precisely assigned to a specific person,” explains Uwe Kühhirt, who is Head of the Audiovisual Systems group at Fraunhofer IDMT.
Additionally, InsightPersona offers comprehensive program analyses, enabling users to identify coverage trends, audience reach, and diversity aspects. Interactive dashboards featuring heatmaps and intuitive statistics provide a clear basis for keeping track of key focus groups and making well-founded decisions.
“Our media intelligence solution InsightPersona delivers real time savings for anyone working with large media collections,” notes Christian Rollwage, Head of Audio Signal Enhancement at Fraunhofer IDMT. “Simultaneous face and speaker recognition makes it much easier to quickly find the person you are looking for.”
+++New: Effortless Search for Previously Unknown Persons & Chatbot-Driven Queries+++
Among InsightPersona’s latest enhancements is the Live Search feature: a single image or short voice sample — even of a person not yet stored in the system — is sufficient to identify all relevant archive segments within seconds.
An intuitive chatbot interface now allows users to formulate searches in natural language. Through interactive dialogue, queries can be refined iteratively until the relevant results are achieved — making the search process more dynamic and user-friendly.
+++Clear Visualization of Search Results+++
Search results are visually presented as interactive timelines, heatmaps and other graphics. These visual tools make it easy to detect patterns and trends, monitor focus groups, and present data in a clear format — helping you leverage insights to media analysis, optimize content strategies, or address research questions.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
