Launch of the European Partnership on One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (EUP OHAMR)

Anders Bjers, EUP OHAMR Communications Manager Communications Department
Schwedischer Forschungsrat - The Swedish Research Council

The European Partnership on One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (EUP OHAMR) is set to launch on 23 September 2025 in Brussels. We are pleased to invite media representatives to attend this significant event, in person or online.

The EUP OHAMR initiative is based on over a decade of international collaboration to curb antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through the Joint Programming Initiative on AMR (JPIAMR). This new partnership will bring together over 50 partners from 30 countries to coordinate research and innovation using a One Health approach, which spans human, animal and environmental health. Partners will have access to approximately €250 million of pooled funding for research and innovation. The EU will contribute up to €75 million towards the implementation of the programme.

The afternoon programme will include an overview of the AMR landscape, followed by a detailed presentation of the EUP OHAMR. This will cover the organisation's mission, vision and activities. An expert panel will discuss how to deliver AMR impact through international partnerships.

The event will also provide media representatives with opportunities to interview EUP OHAMR representatives and gain unique insights into the organisation's work, the state of AMR, and its scientific, health, societal, and policy dimensions.
