FAIRness check approved: Scientific Use Files from LIfBi receive highest rating in F-UJI score

The Research Data Centre (RDC) of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) has achieved an F-UJI score of 100% for the Scientific Use Files of the National Education Panel – proof of the highest standards in findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability of the data packages prepared by the RDC for scientific use. More than 4,000 scientists worldwide have already worked with data from Germany's largest long-term education study.

LIfBi-RDC is honoured to receive a new award: The Scientific Use Files (SUFs) containing data from the National Education Panel Survey (NEPS) were rated with the maximum score of 100% by the FAIR assessment tool F-UJI.

The F-UJI score was developed as part of the EU-funded fairsfair project, a joint project involving 22 institutions from eight countries. The score uses metrics to automatically measure how well a dataset complies with the FAIR principles: Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Reusability. The FAIR principles are internationally recognised as key quality standards for research data and are intended to ensure its long-term availability, transparency and reusability.

More than 4,000 data users registered
Since the publication of the first Scientific Use File in 2011, more than 4,000 users have registered for the NEPS data, which is available free of charge. With access to this resource, researchers can rely on comprehensively documented, easily searchable and clearly licensed data sets that can be used to analyse a wide range of aspects of educational trajectories. The SUFs currently contain data from 86 survey waves. In addition to the regularly updated and expanded SUFs of the seven NEPS starting cohorts, the LIfBi-RDC data portfolio includes further data packages on studies in the field of longitudinal educational research.

    Encouragement for further development
"This result shows how much care, expertise and commitment is put into the preparation and provision of our research data," says Dr. Daniel Fuß, head of LIfBi's Research Data Centre. "We are delighted with this confirmation and see it as an encouragement to further develop our infrastructure and services to the highest standard – for strong, data-based educational research."

The use of tools such as F-UJI contributes significantly to the quality assurance of research data and at the same time strengthens the visibility and usability of data offerings in the scientific community. For LIfBi, the highest rating from F-UJI is proof of the consistent implementation of the FAIR principles.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
