The new English-taught degree program BA – International Business at the DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen is already attracting interest from both domestic and international applicants ahead of its launch. Initial applications and positive feedback from regional industry partners indicate a strong interest in internationally oriented study programs. The university emphasizes its strategic focus on internationalization and securing skilled professionals. Companies are increasingly seeking employees with intercultural competencies. Teaching and practical training remain closely integrated, complemented by additional support services for international students.
The new fully English-taught degree program BA – International Business at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Villingen-Schwenningen is already attracting interest from both domestic and international applicants ahead of its launch phase.
This confirms the university’s strategic direction of further expanding international study offerings and jointly developing new target groups for the German labor market together with dual partners. Even before the official start, the first prospective students from various countries have already applied for the program. The regional economy is also responding positively to the new English-taught study offering.
“We can clearly see that there is strong demand for English-taught dual study programs,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lars Meierling, Rector of DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen. “The level of interest shows us that we are addressing a real need with this program – both internationally and regionally.”
The dual partners of DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen are also increasingly responding to international challenges in recruiting skilled professionals. Many companies are operating on a more global scale, entering new markets, and require employees with intercultural competencies.
“Our partner companies are long since thinking beyond national borders,” explains Prof. Dr. Clive Flynn, Head of the BA – International Business degree program. “They are specifically looking for young professionals who can confidently operate in international teams and build bridges between markets and cultures.” The new program is designed to address exactly these requirements and to prepare students both academically and practically for international working environments.
A key element remains the close integration of theory and practice. At the same time, the international focus is complemented by additional support and integration services.
DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen also sees the international study offering as a contribution to the long-term securing of skilled professionals in the region. “We also understand the program as a bridge between the regional economy and the global talent market,” Flynn emphasizes. “This creates added value for both sides – for students and for companies.”
The DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen plans to systematically evaluate the experiences gained from this program and incorporate them into the further development of its study portfolio.
