The First German-Language Journal for Teaching Hebrew
*Didaktik des Hebräischen* (DdH) is a new German-language journal dedicated to the teaching of the Hebrew language. It publishes scholarly articles on subject-specific pedagogy, short notes, and reviews—ranging from teaching practices in schools and colleges to issues in teacher education.
The journal is aimed at anyone who teaches Hebrew or provides professional support for Hebrew instruction: teachers at Jewish and general education schools, college instructors, language educators, as well as students and those in teacher training programs. The focus is on pedagogical issues in language teaching; related topics from pedagogy and educational science may also be considered.
As the only German-language journal in this field to date, the DdH examines the teaching of Hebrew throughout its approximately 3,000-year-long, ongoing history.
The DdH is published by the Chair of Hebrew Linguistics at the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies in collaboration with the Heidelberg University Library. It is edited by Prof. Dr. Viktor Golinets and David Bindrim, PhD.
Articles and Sections
The DdH publishes the following on an ongoing basis:
- Articles: scientifically grounded contributions on subject-specific pedagogy and scientifically informed lesson plans
- Notes: shorter pieces on observations, experiences, and teaching tips, up to three pages
- Reviews: Reviews of books and digital learning resources, such as learning materials and videos
The primary language of publication is German; in justified exceptional cases, articles in English are permitted.
Contributions may be submitted at any time. Following a positive editorial review and proofreading, they will be published in the ongoing annual issue. Please currently submit your contributions via email to David Bindrim: david.bindrim(at)hfjs.eu.
