Die Medizinische Fakultät der Universität des Saarlandes hat turnusgemäß ihr Dekanat neu gewählt. Neuer Dekan ist Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Mathias Montenarh, der in Homburg Medizinische Biochemie und Molekularbiologie lehrt. Er löst damit den Virologen und langjährigen Dekan Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Nikolaus Müller-Lantzsch ab.
Vertreten wird der Dekan von zwei Prodekanen: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Eckart Meese für den Bereich Theoretische Medizin und Biowissenschaft sowie Prof. Dr. med. Christian Rübe für den Bereich Klinische Medizin. Meese vertritt die Fachrichtung Humangenetik, Rübe leitet die Klinik für Strahlentherapie.
Studiendekan ist Prof. Dr. med. Nobert Graf, Direktor der Klinik für Pädiatrische Hämatologie und Onkologie.
Die Amtszeit des neuen Dekanats läuft bis zum 30. September 2006.
