Bereits zum 10. Mal wird an der TU Dresden der Georg-Helm-Preis für hervorragende Abschluss- bzw. Graduierungsarbeiten verliehen. Am 8. Dezember 2004 erhalten ihn Dr. Christian Pech (Fakultät Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften, für die Dissertation "Kleene-Type results for weighted tree-automata"), Jakob Lempp (Philosophische Fakultät, für die Magisterarbeit "Wandel des Diplomatischen Dienstes - Eine evolutionstheoretische Analyse der Reform des Auswärtigen Amtes") und Dr. Sabine Werkmeister (Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen, für die Dissertation "Permanent deformation behavior of unbound granular materials in pavement constructions").
Der Georg-Helm-Preis ist mit jeweils 2.500 Euro dotiert.
Er wird vom Verein zur Förderung von Studierenden der TU Dresden e.V., einer Gründung der studentischen Verbindung "Corps Altsachsen", gestiftet.
Professor Georg Helm (1851-1923) wurde 1888 als Professor für analytische Geometrie, Mechanik und mathematische Physik an die TH Dresden berufen. Von 1910 bis 1911 war er deren Rektor und anschließend bis 1912 Prorektor.
Die Veranstaltung beginnt am 8. Dezember 2004, 11 Uhr, im Festsaal des Rektorats, Mommsenstraße 11.
