Zwei Physik-Studenten der Universität Kaiserslautern haben aus eigenen Mitteln eine neuartige digitale Panorama-Kamera entwickelt. Mit ihrer Hilfe kann extrem schnell und kostengünstig Rohbildmaterial für 3-D-Simulationen hergestellt werden.
Die Kamera verfügt über ein Objektiv, das sich einmal vollständig um die eigene Achse dreht und so den gesamten umgebenden Raum aufnimmt. Dieser Rundumblick der Kamera ist dann am Computer auch für den Betrachter möglich.
Die neue Technik eignet sich vor allem für einen Einsatz in der Immobilienbranche. Häuser und Wohnungen können besichtigt werden, ohne daß eine tatsächliche Begehung vor Ort nötig ist.
