Am 19. April 2005 wurde Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wegner, Direktor am Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz, vom Senat der Technischen Universität Lodz der Titel "Doctor Honoris Causa" verliehen.
Mit der Ehrendoktorwürde zeichnet die polnische Universität die herausragenden wissenschaftlichen Verdienste Prof. Wegners auf dem Gebiet der Polymerforschung aus.
