Paderborn/Erfurt. Prof. Dr. Michael Gabel (53), Professor für Fundamentaltheologie und Religionswissenschaft an der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Erfurt, ist am Dienstag, 31. Januar 2006, zum Stellvertretenden Vorsitzenden des Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultätentags gewählt worden und steht für zwei Jahre dem Vorsitzenden Prof. Dr. Berthold Wald (53) aus Paderborn zur Seite. Gabel löst den Münchener Dogmatiker Prof. Dr. Peter Neuner (64) ab, der dieses Amt aus Altersgründen abgegeben hat.
Der aus Erfurt stammende Wissenschaftler studierte Katholische Theologie in Erfurt, wo er im Jahre 1990 zum Doktor der Theologie promoviert wurde. Seit 2000 ist er hier Professor. Außerdem versieht er das Amt eines Prodekans. Zu den Forschungsgebieten Gabels zählt der Personalismus. Insbesondere hat er sich mit dem Philosophen Max Scheler beschäftigt und ist Gründungsmitglied der Max-Scheler-Gesellschaft. Prof. Dr. Michael Gabel gehört als Priester der Diözese Erfurt an.
