Der 150. Todestag des Komponisten ist Anlass für das internationale musikwissenschaftliche Symposium "Robert Schumann: Das Spätwerk". Es findet vom 12. - 14. Mai 2006 im Gästehaus der Universität statt. Veranstalter ist der Studiengang Musikwissenschaft unter Federführung vom Professor Ulrich Tadday. Die wichtigsten Vertreterinnen und Vertreter der Schumann-Forschung stellen die Ergebnisse ihrer Arbeiten zum Leben und Werk Schumanns vor. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei das Spätwerk. Abgerundet wird das Symposium durch ein öffentliches musikalisches Rahmenprogramm. Am 12. Mai präsentiert der Domorganist Professor Wolfgang Baumgartz im Bremer St. Petri Dom Orgelwerke Schumanns. Unter dem Titel "Der unbekannte (?) Schumann" spielt und moderiert am 13. Mai Dr. Michael Struck im Neuen Museum Weserburg die Klavierwerke "Kinderszenen" und "Die Gesänge der Frühe".
