Der Historiker Johannes Heil ist neuer Inhaber des Ignatz-Bubis-Lehrstuhls für Geschichte, Religion und Kultur des europäischen Judentums. Die Stiftungsprofessur an der Hochschule für Jüdische Studien in Heidelberg wird von der Alfried-Krupp-von-Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung gefördert. Am 24. Mai hält Johannes Heil seine Antrittsvorlesung zu dem Thema "Jüdische Weltgeschichte und globale Geschichte - Alte Paradigmen und neue Fragen". Zuvor wird der Vizepräsident des Zentralrats der Juden in Deutschland, Salomon Korn, an den 1999 verstorbenen Zentralratspräsidenten Bubis erinnern. Der Vortrag findet um 18:15 in der Aula der Alten Universität, Grabengasse 1, in Heidelberg statt.
