Im Informatikjahr - Wissenschaftsjahr 2006 findet in Saarbrücken vom 16. bis 18. November ein bundesweiter Schülerkongress statt. Auf dem Campus der Universität Saarbrücken werden mehr als 200 Schülerinnen und Schüler aus ganz Deutschland erwartet, die ihre eigens für das Wissenschaftsjahr erarbeiteten Informatikprojekte vorstellen werden.
Ergänzt wird die Vorstellung der Schülerprojekte durch Vorträge und Workshops, in denen Schülerinnen und Schüler noch mehr über die Informatik lernen können. Das weit gefächerte Angebot reicht von Bioinformatik und Computergraphik über Robotik und Softwaretechnik bis hin zur Wirtschaftsinformatik. Außerdem präsentieren sich im Rahmen des Schülerkongresses auch das Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik, das Max-Planck-Institut für Softwaresysteme, das Deutsche Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) sowie die Zentren für Bioinformatik und Sprachforschung. Die Teilnahme am Kongress und die Verpflegung sind kostenlos. Der Informatikkongress wird vom Bundesministerium für Forschung und Bildung, von der Robert Bosch Stiftung und vom saarländischen Kultusministerium gefördert. Darüber hinaus unterstützt Saartoto, die IDS Scheer AG und die Züricher Versicherung den Kongress.
