Potsdam. Am Hasso-Plattner-Institut für Softwaresystemtechnik hat am Freitag, 13. Oktober 2006, der achte Bachelorjahrgang sein Studium aufgenommen. 85 hoch talentierte Abiturienten - im Durchschnitt haben sie eine 1,7 als Zeugnisnote - wurden von HPI-Direktor Prof. Christoph Meinel in der Einführungsveranstaltung auf dem Campus Griebnitzsee in Potsdam-Babelsberg begrüßt. Dort lernten die 79 männlichen und sechs weiblichen HPI-Neulinge auch ihre "Paten" kennen - Studenten höherer Semester, die ihren Kommilitonen den Start in den neuen Lebensabschnitt erleichtern wollen. Beworben um die begehrten Studienplätze am HPI hatten sich fast 200 Abiturienten.
Mit 62 Prozent stellen Berlin und Brandenburg den Löwenanteil der neuen Studenten an Deutschlands Exzellenz-Zentrum für IT Systems Engineering. Das Hasso-Plattner-Institut ist Deutschlands einziges völlig privat finanziertes Uni-Institut. Keine weitere deutsche Hochschule bietet den Bachelor- und Master-Studiengang IT Systems Engineering an, eine praxisnahe und ingenieurwissenschaftlich orientierte Alternative zum herkömmlichen Informatik-Studium. Zurzeit hat das HPI gut 360 Studenten, die von rund 50 Professoren und Lehrbeauftragten ausgebildet haben. Die Zahl der Bachelor-Absolventen beträgt fast 230, die der Master-Absolventen knapp 80.
