Microtechnology sector grows: IVAM welcomes 200th member and forecasts more jobs

Josefine Zucker Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
IVAM Fachverband für Mikrotechnik

IVAM Microtechnology Network has recently welcomed its 200th member: Laser Competence Centre Finland, expert and network for optoelectronics and laser technology. The rapid growth of the association - the number of members has doubled during the last five years - indicates the positive development of the industry, says IVAM managing director Dr. Christine Neuy: "Despite all predictions to the contrary, many medium-sized high-tech companies are economically very well-off. Half of our members have hired more employees in the last year, and three quarters plan to create new jobs within the next three to five years", Neuy points out.

The 100 IVAM member companies in Germany employ about 7,500 people. "Many people are not aware of the tremendous amount of jobs the microtechnology branch offers", says Dr. Jan Albers from Elmos Semiconductor AG, which employs about 670 people in Dortmund. IVAM supports companies like Elmos through technology marketing and networking.

"Bringing products to the market is easier when you are part of a network. Through its trade fairs, round tables and publications IVAM offers an excellent platform", confirms Dirk Dombert from Cimatron, a software manufacturer for tooling and mold design.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the IVAM Microtechnology Network, please contact Dr. Christine Neuy (Phone: +49 231 9742 167; E-mail: cn@ivam.de).
