Wissenschaftler entwickeln schnelle und genaue Methode, um mutierte Krebszellen zu entdecken
Jeder Tumor ist anders: Um das individuelle genetische Muster zu erkennen, das die Krebszellen eines Patienten charakterisiert, hat ein internationales Wissenschaftlerteam neue Verfahren entwickelt. Künftig lässt sich damit erstmals eine Reihe von Mutationen in Tumorzellen schnell und sicher nachweisen. Solche Veränderungen im Erbgut verschaffen Tumorzellen Wachstumsvorteile gegenüber gesunden Körperzellen. Wissen Forscher über diese Mutationen Bescheid, können sie individuelle Therapien auf den jeweiligen Krankheitsfall abstimmen. (Nature Genetics online, 11. Februar 2007).
