In Anwesenheit des Bundesratspräsidenten Dr. Harald Ringstorff und des Dänischen Bildungsministers Bertel Haarder diskutieren weitere führende Repräsentanten aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft am 11. Juni 2007 auf der Veranstaltung "Talents on Top of Europe" in der nordischen Botschaft in Berlin (siehe Programmanhang). Die Veranstaltung, organisiert in Verbindung mit der deutschen EU-Ratspräsidentschaft, werden die Schlüsselkomponenten hervorgehoben, die für den zukünftigen Erfolg wissensorientierter Wirtschaftssysteme in Nordeuropa notwendig sind.
Die heutige Wissensgesellschaft erfordert in zunehmendem Maße hochqualifizierte Fachkräfte und einen konstanten Zuwachs an talentierten jungen Wissenschaftlern. Die Bereiche der Lebenswissenschaft und Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik (IuK) in der Ostseeregion, vertreten durch weltbekannte Unternehmen wie Novo Nordisk, Astra Zeneca, Nokia und Siemens, müssen ihre Forschung und Entwicklung weiter vorantreiben, um auf dem Weltmarkt wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben. Wird es aber genügend verfügbare Intelligenz an der "Spitze Europas" geben, um so eine Offensive zu unterstützen oder müssen diese Forschungseineinrichtungen aus dieser Region abwandern? Die Veranstaltung wird organisiert von den Initiativen ScanBalt BioRegion, Baltic Development Forum, BioTop Berlin-Brandenburg und BioCon Valley.
