Auf seinen Sitzungen am 21. Juni und 12. Juli 2007 wählte der Akademische Senat der Hochschule Wismar zwei Prorektoren, die ab September 2007 dem Rektor, Prof. Dr. Norbert Grünwald, für eine Amtszeit von drei Jahren zur Seite stehen werden.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Manfred Ahn wurde im Amt als Prorektor für Bildung bestätigt, Professor Dr. math. Gunnar Prause übernimmt das Amt des Prorektors für Forschung von Professorin Dr. rer. nat. Marion Wienecke.
Im Zuge des Umbaus der Hochschulstrukturen wird es in Zukunft keinen Prorektor für Informationstechnologien mehr geben. Professor Alde scheidet aus diesem Amt am 31.August 2007 aus. Die Informationstechnologie-Strategie der Hochschule soll in Zukunft durch einen Chief Information Officer (CIO) gesteuert und umgesetzt werden. Professor Ahn lehrt an der Fakultät für Ingenieurwissenschaften und ist bereits seit 2002 im Amt. Er war wie die scheidenden Prorektoren auch maßgeblich an der Erarbeitung des Hochschulkonzepts 2020 beteiligt. Prof. Prause war bisher Prodekan der Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften. Er kann auf etliche europäische Forschungsprojekte verweisen.
