Der Nobelpreisträger Prof. Dr. James M. Buchanan (USA), ausgezeichnet mit mehreren Ehrendoktortiteln, wird am Montag, 19. Juni, an der Universität Würzburg einen öffentlichen Vortrag halten: Er spricht um 11.00 Uhr im Hörsaal 224 der Universität am Sanderring zum Thema "Politics as Tragedy: The Logic of Common Access to Social Value". Damit folgt er einer Einladung des Lehrstuhls für Volkswirtschaftslehre, insbesondere Allgemeine Wirtschaftspolitik (Prof. Dr. Hans G. Monissen).
Prof. Buchanan, Jahrgang 1919, erhielt den Nobelpreis für Wirtschaftswissenschaften im Jahr 1986 für seine Arbeiten über politische Entscheidungsprozesse und ihre verfassungsrechtlichen Grundlagen. Derzeit lehrt er an der George Mason-Universität in Virginia am nach ihm benannten "James M. Buchanan Center for Political Economy".
Der Verlag "Liberty Fund Press" legt derzeit eine 22 Bände umfassende Auswahl der Veröffentlichungen von Prof. Buchanan auf. Eine Internet-Festschrift zu Ehren des Nobelpreisträgers ist über die WWW-Seiten der Universität Duisburg abrufbar:
