Prof. Dr. René Deplanque Marketing & PR
Fachinformationszentrum Chemie GmbH

German-American junior scientist prize "CINF-FIZ Scholarship for Scientific Excellence" will be awarded to three junior scientists on 20th August at the 234th ACS Meeting / Winners of this year's award have been determined / Joint junior scientist promotion of FIZ CHEMIE Berlin and CINF, information division of the American Chemical Society(ACS).

Berlin / Boston, 9th August 2007 - Around 15,000 scientists are expected by the American Chemical Society, ACS, at its 234th ACS National Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Three of these will be awarded with the "FIZ Scholarship for Scientific Excellence" junior scientist prize, by the specialist information center, FIZ CHEMIE Berlin, and CINF, the information division of the ACS. The prize will be awarded for outstanding research work in electronic processing and application of specialist chemical knowledge. FIZ CHEMIE Berlin and CINF are therefore jointly promoting scientific-technical junior scientists in the field of chemical information. Junior scientists from all over the world can apply for the "CINF-FIZ Scholarship". The first three places are being awarded. Each prize is for 1,000.00 dollars.

This year's prize winners have been determined. Their names will be announced at the award ceremony on 20th August at the 234th ACS Meeting, within the setting of the CINF Luncheon (BCEC 154). Afterwards, the outstanding junior scientists will show their prize-winning work at the Sci-Mix exhibition, which is taking place on the same day from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Hall B2, BCEC. The winning posters will be marked with a banner.

FIZ CHEMIE has maintained a close partnership with the American specialist information sector for many years. Many of the high-quality databases of FIZ CHEMIE were developed within cooperative frameworks and are jointly operated and constantly updated. Close contacts exist with CINF, which has dedicated itself to the promotion of professional expertise in dealing with information resources and information technology, as well as information policy. The idea of the CINF-FIZ Scholarship for Scientific Excellence emerged from this partnership.

ACS is the largest specialist society in the world, which is dedicated to a single scientific discipline. The 234th ACS Meeting is taking place from 19th to 24th August in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. It will be accompanied by a large exhibition, at which FIZ CHEMIE will also be presenting its databases and information services.
