Medical biotechnology and toxicology makes increasing ef-forts to analyse the effects of drugs and chemicals on cells. Therefore often small biological samples have to be charac-terised non-invasively. For the development of new drugs and therapies as well as for a patient-specific therapy the use of 3-D-tissue models is required. 3-D in vitro tissue models often mirror the in vivo situation better than 2-D-cell cultures. Nevertheless the existing 3-D in vitro tissue models are not suitable for large-scale application in a clinical environment or in the biotechnological research, because of their complex architecture.
At the Fraunhofer IBMT a in vitro test platform was developed, that contains a module for the characterisation of
3-D-tissue samples via impedance spectroscopy and potential recording.
The central component is a microcapillary chip that allows a hydrodynamic positioning of the biological sample. This is the main requisition for a patient-specific therapy as well as for an advanced drug and therapy development in medical biotechnology. The qualification of this newly developed system for the evaluation of new drugs and therapies is already shown on genetically modified 3-D-tumor models and 3-D-heart muscle spheroids. Further examples are the monitoring of cell differentiation in cell cultures and the test of neurotoxic effects of chemicals and food additives.

English

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
