Die Entdeckung des bisher massereichsten stellaren Schwarzen Lochs und seines Partnersterns fordert die Astrophysiker heraus
In einer Nachbargalaxie der Milchstraße haben Astronomen das bisher schwerste bekannte stellare Schwarze Loch entdeckt. Das Objekt mit der Bezeichnung M 33 X-7 besitzt knapp die 16-fache Masse unserer Sonne und ist Teil eines Doppelsternsystems. Forscher des Max-Planck-Instituts für extraterrestrische Physik waren maßgeblich daran beteiligt, das Schwarze Loch zu "wiegen". (Nature, 18. Oktober 2007)
