2007: ESMT strengthened for continued growth

Christiane Hach Public Relations
European School of Management and Technology (ESMT)

Expansion of faculty, programs, areas of competence
    New structure regarding locations

ESMT European School of Management and Technology increased its turnover in the business year 2007 by more than 40 percent to EUR 13.8 million (from EUR 9.7 million in 2006). The number of participants in the international programs grew by 16 percent to 2620 (2006: 2259). This growth rate was achieved through the acquisition of new clients, the engagement of ESMT's sponsoring companies, the introduction of new programs and the establishment of the research-based consulting unit ESMT Competition Analysis (CA) - the latter with strong exper-tise in competition policy and regulatory issues. The number of ESMT employees also in-creased from 73 to 98 full-time equivalents.
ESMT will continue to be dedicated to the recruitment of first-rate international faculty. Nine additional professors joined ESMT in 2007, including the newly appointed Associate Dean of Research (Francis de Véricourt, previously Duke University) and the Associate Dean of Faculty (Luc Wathieu, previously Harvard Business School). Additionally, ESMT installed an Academic Advisory Board, including Antonio Borges (Vice Chairman and International Advisor Goldman Sachs International, previously Dean of INSEAD), Martin F. Hellwig (Professor of Economics at the Universität Bonn), Mario Monti (President Universitá Bocconi) and Stefan J. Reichelstein (Professor of Accounting, Stanford Graduate School of Business).
A new degree program, the Executive MBA, was launched in October 2007 with 30 participants from 13 different countries.
The rental contract for the ESMT campus in Munich-Riem was discontinued as of January 1, which means ESMT will focus on its main campus in Berlin and its second location in Cologne, Schloss Gracht. This decision coincides with the departure of Hertie School of Governance from Schlossplatz 1, which due to their own strong growth will take place at the end of 2008. The Berlin campus will be available for the sole use of ESMT starting in 2009.
