Die Trierer Analytiker arbeiten seit Jahren erfolgreich mit verschiedenen Gruppen hochrangiger, internationaler Wissenschaftler zusammen, insbesondere aus Spanien, Griechenland und Armenien. Die internationale Tagung "Universal Functions and Hypercyclic Operators" führt diese Gruppen erstmalig im Jahr der Mathematik 2008 vom 2. bis 5. April an der Universität Trier zusammen. Die Tagung beginnt Mittwoch, 2. April 2008, um 10:15 Uhr und endet Samstag, 5. April 2008, um 13:00 Uhr. Sämtliche Vorträge finden im Hörsaal 9, E-Gebäude statt.
Die Theorie universeller Funktionen und hyperzyklischer Operatoren ist mehr und mehr zu einem wesentlichen Forschungsgegenstand der Analysis geworden. Dabei geht es um Fragen nach der Existenz mathematischer Objekte, die ein extrem komplexes (chaotisches) Verhalten aufweisen.
