Die Hochschule Coburg bietet Abiturienten, die sich für Informatik und Automobil interessieren den Bachelor-Studienzweig "Informatik Automobil". Vermittelt werden Basiswissen im Maschinenbau und in der Elektrotechnik sowie interdisziplinäre Kenntnisse in der Fahrzeugelektronik, im Fahrzeugbau und in der Telematik. Das Studium umfasst sieben Semester, wobei das fünfte Semester als Praxissemester in der Industrie absolviert wird. Die Nachfrage nach IT-Spezialisten mit Hintergrundwissen aus der Automobilbranche sind aktuell sowie auf absehbare Zeit sehr gefragt, so die Prognosen des Verbands der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik (VDE).
