Marco Bock wird von Prof. Dr. Tomas Sauer (Numerische Mathematik) betreut
Marco Bock, Mathematik-Doktorand an der Universität Gießen, ist Ende Mai mit dem "Young Engineer Award 2008" ausgezeichnet worden. Den mit 1.000 Euro dotierten Preis erhielt er für seine Arbeit "Methods for Path Decomposition of Redundand CNC-Axes", die er gemeinsam mit seinen Betreuern, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Papiernik (Siemens AG, Industry Sector) und Prof. Dr. Tomas Sauer (Universität Gießen) bei der internationalen Leistungselektronik-Ausstellung und -Konferenz "Power Electronics, Intelligent Motion, Power Quality" (PCIM Europe) eingereicht hatte.
Marco Bock hat in Gießen Mathematik studiert und seine Diplomarbeit bereits in Kooperation mit der Siemens AG, Frauenaurach, angefertigt, wo er seit 2007 als Doktorand beschäftigt ist und wie bereits bei seiner Diplomarbeit von Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Papiernik und Prof. Dr. Tomas Sauer betreut wird. Die Arbeit, für die er jetzt ausgezeichnet wurde, stellt mathematische Methoden zur Steuerung von CNC-Werkzeugmaschinen mit redundanten Achsen vor.
