IEEE-Fellow
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Menzel, Leiter der Abteilung Mikrowellentechnik der Universität Ulm, ist vom Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in Würdigung seiner Beiträge zur Entwicklung von Mikrowellen-Fin-Leitungen zum IEEE-Fellow gewählt worden. Dieser Leitungstyp hat große Bedeutung für platzsparende gedruckte Schaltungen.
Das IEEE (mit Sitz in Piscataway, New Jersey, USA, und weltweit nationalen Vertretungen) ist für Ingenieure der Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik die wichtigste internationale Berufsorganisation. Es vergibt den Titel »Fellow« als besondere Ehrung für wesentliche Leistungen bei der Fortentwicklung der Technik.
