Der Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee (KHB) ist es gelungen, den international renommierten Architekten Daniel Libeskind für eine Gastprofessur zu gewinnen. Libeskind ist in Berlin besonders als Erbauer des Jüdischen Museums bekannt. Er wird vom 2. April 2001 an Architektur und Entwerfen im Studiengang Architektur unterrichten.
Der 1946 in Polen geborene amerikanische Architekt ist für die Einleitung eines neuen kritischen Diskurses in der Architektur und wegen seines multidisziplinären Ansatzes bekannt. Über Museen und andere kulturelle Gebäude schuf er auch städtische Bauten, Installationen und Bühnenbilder in aller Welt. Eines seiner Aufsehen erregenden Projekte, das zur Zeit verwirklicht wird, ist die Erweiterung des Victoria & Albert-Museums in London.
Libeskinds Gastprofessur wird von Carla Swickerath aus seinem Berliner Büro unterstützt. Schon von Oktober 1993 bis September 1994 war Daniel Libeskind Gastprofessor an der Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee (KHB).
