Urban Wiesing bleibt in Tübingen und lehnt Ruf nach München ab
Die "World Medical Association", der Weltärztebund, hat das Institut für Ethik und Geschichte der Medizin der Universität Tübingen für drei Jahre als " World Medical Association Cooperation Center" ausgezeichnet. Das Tübinger Institut ist damit das erste Institut in Deutschland, das diesen Titel führen darf. Der Direktor des Instituts für Ethik und Geschichte der Medizin, Prof. Urban Wiesing, arbeitete schon an der Revision der Deklaration in Helsinki des Weltärztebundes mit, die 2008 in Seoul verabschiedet wurde. Die Deklaration von Helsinki gilt als wichtigstes Dokument ärztlicher Standesauffassung zur medizinischen Forschung am Menschen. Derzeit ist Urban Wiesing in einer Arbeitsgruppe des Weltärztebundes tätig, die sich der Frage der ethischen Vertretbarkeit von Placebos in der klinischen Forschung widmet.
Professor Urban Wiesing hat außerdem mitgeteilt, dass er einen Ruf auf die W 3-Professur für Ethik und Geschichte der Medizin an die LMU München abgelehnt hat und auf seinem Tübinger Lehrstuhl bleiben wird.
