Das Wissenschaftsfestival "Highlights der Physik", das von Jahr zu Jahr in einer anderen Stadt gastiert, kommt vom 20. bis 24. September 2009 nach Köln. Themenschwerpunkte sind diesmal Astrophysik und Weltraumforschung. Das Programm unter dem Motto "Adresse: Milchstraße" umfasst Wissenschaftsshows, Mitmach-Experimente, Vorträge und eine Ausstellung im Kölner "Gürzenich". Dort können Besucher unter anderem TV-Moderator Ranga Yogeshwar, Armin Maiwald von der "Sendung mit der Maus" sowie den Astronauten Ulf Merbold hautnah erleben. Der Eintritt ist frei.
Das Festival wird vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) und der Deutschen Physikalischen Gesellschaft (DPG) organisiert. Mitveranstalter sind in diesem Jahr die Universität zu Köln und das Dresdner Leibniz-Institut für Festkörper- und Werkstoffforschung.
