Certainly. And a rather violent one. And all this for Safety in Engineering and Chemical Technology.
And the visitors, who would like to see us from above, go up - in a helicopter!

BAM Test Site Technical Safety was awarded the title 'Selected place in the Land of Ideas 2009' by the Germany - The Land of Ideas Initiative and Deutsche Bank. On the 9th of September 2009 BAM will open the test site to visitors on the occasion of the presentation of the award!
BAM has a lot to show: For example the largest Drop test facility in the world. A 10,000-kg container for light and medium radioactive wastes will be dropped from a height of 5 metres. This Drop test is part of the prototype test for the final storage facility Konrad.
Our programme will be multifaceted and exciting:
- a car accident including a fire scenario will be simulated
- the fire-accelerating effect of pure oxygen will be shown using a model doll and
- the ignition and transformation of coal dust into a fire ball will be demonstrated.
And much more. Our partners' programme is equally spectacular:
- Linde Gas Deutschland will show 'HydroGen4' with hydrogen propulsion (the European version of Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell) and the mobile petrol station 'trailH2-Gas'.
- BAM's test site from below and above: the Promotion Association of Test Traffic Facility Horstwalde organises Offroad tours for visitors. And for those who always wanted to fly in a helicopter, inexpensive Helicopter flights will be offered.
- Work of art from sound and light: fireworks composed by pyro artist Hans-Georg Kehse will close this special day.
