"Migration, Culture-Conflict and Crime" ist Thema einer Tagung, die vom 5. bis 6. Oktober 2001 an der Universität Trier stattfinden wird. Zur Teilnahme an der Tagung wird hiermit öffentlich eingeladen. Die Tagungssprache ist Englisch. Das Tagungsprogramm sowie Informationen zu dieser Tagung sind im WWW verfügbar (s.a. Anhang). Teilnehmer können sich elektronisch anmelden mithilfe des Anmeldeformulars auf der Web-Page www.prof-kühne@uni-trier.de (Veranstaltungen).
Die Trierer Tagung setzt die auf dem 1. Symposium über "Migration, Culture and Crime" (5. bis 8. Juli 1999 in Jerusalem) begonnene Diskussion fort und gibt Experten aus Europa, den USA und anderen Teilen der Welt Gelegenheit, diese Probleme zu erörtern und Lösungsmöglichkeiten aufzuzeigen.
Informationen zur Tagung
Migrationsbewegungen können nicht nur in Europa verstärkt festgestellt werden, sondern sind ein weltweit wachsendes Phänomen. Politische, mehr noch wirtschaftliche Strukturen sind der Anlass für diese Strömungen. Während in den USA als klassischem Einwanderungsland die mit Migrationsbewegungen verbundenen Probleme schon länger bekannt sind, sind die Mitgliedstaaten der EU, wenn man von unionsinternen Migrationen einmal absieht, besonders nach Ende des Kalten Krieges mit diesem Phänomen konfrontiert worden. Die daraus resultierenden Probleme sind notorisch, wenngleich Lösungen dafür eher rar sind.
Während die Öffentlichkeit in den Einwanderungsländern sich - oft zu unrecht - vor der Kriminalität der Ausländer fürchtet, werden Ausländer immer häufiger Opfer krimineller Angriffe durch Inländer. Letzteres geschieht in der Regel aus dumpfen Gefühlen, die ihren Ursprung in Nationalismus, Ethnozentrismus und Fremdenhass haben. Dies ist in Anbetracht der Internationalisierung und Globalisierung von Gesellschaften, ganz zu schweigen von dem Zusammenwachsen der Mitgliedstaaten der EU, ein bemerkenswerter Prozess, welcher erhöhter wissenschaftlicher und politischer Aufmerksamkeit bedarf.
