Alle träumen davon: Naschwerk, das die Zähne nicht kaputt macht. Der 28-jährige Wissenschaftler Thomas Walther hat im Rahmen seiner Diplomarbeit ein Verfahren entwickelt, das die Herstellung eines speziellen Süßstoffes ermöglicht, der antikariös wirkt und auch für Diabetiker geeignet ist.
Dafür wird ihm im Rahmen der BIOTECHNICA am 10. Oktober 2001 in Hannover der Karl - Schügerl - Forschungspreis überreicht.
Professor Dr. Karl Schügerl hat 26 Jahre bis zu seiner Emeritierung im Jahre 1995 das Institut für Technische Chemie der Universität Hannover geleitet. Er gilt als international anerkannter Fachmann für Bio-Technologie. Der Preis wurde auf Initiative seiner Schüler und Förderer 1995 eingerichtet. Er ist mit 5.000 Mark dotiert und wird alle zwei Jahre verliehen.
Thomas Walther wird den Preis direkt von Prof. Dr. Karl Schügerl entgegen nehmen.
